Your favorite holiday appetizer just got a keto makeover. These Keto Sausage Balls are the perfect quick and easy low carb appetizer for all occasions.
Keto Sausage Balls: the perfect keto appetizer
I can't think of a more traditional appetizer recipe than sausage balls. They have grazed countless holiday tables for decades. These keto sausage balls are the perfect low carb rendition of a high carb classic. In this recipe I used almond flour in place of the traditional bisquick used in the sausage ball recipes of old. It makes the perfect substitution, while keeping the perfectly dense, juicy texture.
What to serve with these sausage balls
I love to serve these keto sausage balls with a side of low carb barbecue sauce or even with my Dairy Free Keto Ranch Dressing Recipe or Keto Chive Blue Cheese Dressing recipe. And let me just tell you... these sausage balls aren't just for holidays, they are perfect any time of year. They are quick and easy, ready in under 30 minutes, making them the perfect quick and easy party appetizer.
I like to make a double batch and use them for meal prep throughout the week. They are portable, and reheat well. Great served alone, or with eggs for breakfast. Serve them up with a hearty salad for lunch or dinner. The possibilities are endless. I also like to mix things up a bit and whip these sausage balls up with some cream cheese and fresh herbs. DELISH! What is your favorite way to enjoy keto sausage balls?

I love this kind of finger food for on the go. I actually mixed chorizo and country sausage. So good. I partially cooked the chorizo to lose some grease, and it worked out well. I make them every week.
Thank you!

Just made these and they are so good! I realized I had minced garlic instead of minced onion after I already dumped it in so I went with it - added onion powder for the onion flavor. (garlic is good in everything anyway lol) I sprayed the wire rack with some coconut oil spray so no sticking issues for me. I LOVE that you don't get the almond flour taste or gritty texture - just enough used to hold the balls together and give them some body. They were so easy - they will be on my meal prep menu from now on because I can easily see these as a quick grab-and-go snack, a breakfast as well as a perfect party appetizer. (I plan to make & bring these to any holiday parties this year) Thanks!

Loved them. I bagged them up in individual servings and would grab a bag to eat on the way to the office. We will definitely be making these again and again.

I made these according to the recipe but it was a little bland for my taste so I added a little cumin, sage, onion powder, more onion flakes, and a sprinkle of liquid smoke. Oh and I used turkey sausage rather than italian sausage. Yummy!! Next time I'm going to have to triok2e the batch because they weren't here long.

Using turkey sausage would account for the bland taste you referenced. . The recipe is good as it is, perhaps adding red pepper flakes would help.

What are the sauces you used in the picture? Low carb ranch is one, I think, what is the other?
Kyndra Holley says
The other is a low carb barbecue sauce.

I sort of made this recipe today, I loved the base. However I omitted the almond flour & minced onion but added 1 cup mozzarella cheese, 2 cloves of garlic & pepper flakes to spice them up a bit. OMG, so delicious, ate 2 right away. HAPPY keto cooking everyone !

Is the mozzarella cheese in addition to the cheddar cheese?
Your modifications to the original recipe make a perfect nut-free one that my son will gobble down with no complants as long as he has his tomatoe sauce (he's a New Zealand or kiwi boy)

Made this recipe today and loved it! Only thing is that the balls stuck to the mesh of the wire cooling rack, and I don't like losing any of the yummy goodness! Next time I think I'll try just lining with foil instead. They'll be sitting in some sausage fat but I can put them on paper towels to drain. Thanks!
Brenda Prosser says
Try using parchment paper, less likely to stick than foil.
Kyndra Holley says
You can also cook them directly on the baking sheet, they are just a little more oily that way.
