Ingredients in Keto Big Mac Casserole

ingredients all laid out in individual bowls - ground beef, cheese, onion, pickle, lettuce, sauce

    Ingredient Notes

    • Ground beef: The beef is the star of the show in this keto Big Mac casserole. It it juicy and flavorful, cooked with onion, garlic, Worcestershire, salt and pepper. (Try this Bacon Cheeseburger Salad Recipe)
    • Burger sauce: For the homemade Big Mac sauce recipe, I used my "Not So Secret" Burger Sauce Recipe. For more of a Big Mac feel, you can add some chopped pickles or relish.
    • Cheese: While a Big Mac is typically made with American cheese, I made this with sharp white cheddar cheese. But you can definitely make it with slices of American cheese over top.
    • Pickles: Would it be a Big Mac without the pickles? I used dill pickle slices, but you could also use chopped pickles, or even relish.
    • Sesame seeds:

    Recipe Tips and Variations

    • Storage: Store the leftover keto Big Mac casserole in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. (These are my favorite storage containers)
    • Reheating: Reheat the leftover Big Mac casserole in the microwave or in a pan on the stovetop.
    • Pile it on top of lettuce: Pile a helping of the casserole on top of lettuce and top with the burger sauce or ranch dressing for a Big Mac salad.
    • Add bacon jam: For some added flavor, top this casserole with some of my Keto Bacon Jam.
    • Serve it on buns: For more of a burger experience, serve a helping of this on one of my Keto Everything Buns, slather on some burger sauce, add sliced pickles, extra cheese and shredded lettuce.
    • Make a Big Mac pizza: Make one of my Keto Pizza Crusts, cook the ground beef per the directions, then spread it on the pizza and top with sauce, cheese, pickles and sesame seeds. Bake for 15 minutes (on top of crust baking time).
    • Serving suggestions: If you aren't concerned with keeping things low carb, this is delicious served with these Crispy Air Fryer Potato Wedges.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make Big Mac sauce?

While many recipes will call for French dressing, or even just using Thousand Island dressing, Big Mac sauce is actually neither of those. It is a blend of mayo, ketchup, mustard, sweet pickle relish, vinegar, and other spices and seasonings. For this recipe I use my own homemade burger sauce recipe.

How do you make Big Mac salad?

You can pile this casserole on top of shredded lettuce to make a delicious Big Mac salad. Alternatively, you can try my Bacon Cheeseburger Salad Recipe.

Hello! I can't wait to try this recipe. What size casserole dish do you suggest? I will probably make 1/2 of the recipe as it will just be for me (with some leftovers, of course!)

      Thanks!

Made this last night, but with ground turkey (I don't eat beef or pork), and it was fantastic. Plenty of leftovers for lunch. Thank you for this!

Best. Recipe. Ever. The flavors in this dish will take you right back to those “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun” days. But without the bun. 🙂 My husband loved it. Thank you, Kyndra!

My husband and I both have fond memories of Big Macs. We ate them when we were young and didn't know what we now know. Haven't eaten one in decades.
I made this recipe and we both LOVED it. Will definitely make it again. It really does recreate the taste of a Big Mac. Also will be making the dressing again just to use on salads. It was really good. I never buy bottled dressing, so missed the flavor. Kudos on this recipe.

I used lean beef and half as much cheese to cut back the calories. This dish is amazing, the Russian dressing is spot on Big Mac flavor. My husband and kids ages 10, 4, and 2 enjoyed this. The 2 yr old was less thrilled than the rest of us though!
