Fried Mozzarella Balls
- Total Time: 30 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Diet: Gluten Free
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounce container small fresh mozzarella balls
- 1 large egg
- ยผ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup crushed pork rinds (I use this brand)
- ยฝ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
- ยฝ teaspoon garlic powder
- ยฝ teaspoon onion powder
- ยฝ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- oil for frying
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet or large plate with parchment paper
- Remove the mozzarella balls from the liquid and place on paper towels to absorb excess moisture.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and the heavy cream
- In a separate shallow bowl, combine the pork rinds, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Roll each mozzarella ball in the egg wash, and then roll in the breading mixture until it is very well coated. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process for each mozzarella ball.
- Place the breaded mozzarella balls in the freezer for 1 hour.
- Heat 1 inch of oil in a high sided skillet or dutch oven. Once the oil is hot, fry the mozzarella balls, flipping them only once, until they are golden brown. Depending on the size of your pan, you may need to do this in batches.
Notes
- Some of the cooking oils I like for frying are light olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, ghee, or tallow
