Ingredient Notes
How to make Keto Glazed Ham
Step by Step Instructions
STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Trim the rind off the ham, leaving the fat layer in tact. Score the fat in a criss-cross pattern, cutting deeply into the fat, but not through to the flesh beneath. Place the ham into a baking tray and add the water to the bottom.
STEP 2: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
STEP 3: While the ham is in the oven, heat a small saucepan over medium-high heat and add the sweetener, butter, sweetener, molasses, dijon, and spices.
STEP 4: Stir constantly until the sweetener is dissolved. Stir constantly until the sweetener is dissolved and the glaze has thickened.
STEP 5: Increase the oven temperature to 425°F. Brush ⅓ of the glaze over the ham and return to the oven, uncovered for 15 minutes. Brush on another ⅓ of the glaze and return to the oven for 15 more minutes. Brush on the remaining ⅓ of the glaze and cook for a final 15 minutes. After removing the ham for the over the final time, rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
Frequently Asked Questions
First, you’ll want to remove the rind from the ham so that the fat is exposed. Next, score your ham: just make shallow cuts in a diamond pattern across the fat. Scoring the ham insures that the glaze can soak in and bring the flavor to a deeper level. Then, you’ll bake your ham covered at 350°F for 30 minutes in a baking tray with a bit of water at the bottom.
If you’re anxious about the sugar in the molasses, you should know that 2 tablespoons contain 30g total carbs, adding 3 grams of carbs per serving. This brings the ham to only 3.8g of carbs per serving

A sugar glaze doesn’t exactly sound keto friendly, but when you make it with brown sugar erythritol or golden monk fruit sweetener and just a little bit of molasses, it’s completely possible. I made this last year for Christmas and it was my first time ever cooking a ham. The recipe was easy to follow and it turned out great!

Took good ham and really made it great. Even got compliments from hubby who is not a foodie. Served it for thanksgiving and used bourbon instead of water in the glaze. I was really surprised at how great it was. All my keto peeps at dinner loved it.

This was fantastic. I was missing a few ingredients and had to use regular mustard and pumpkin pie spice instead of cloves. I didn't have high hopes for my "creative" substitutions, but this recipe is wonderfully forgiving. My glaze was sweet, delicious, rich and complex. I'm so happy with this recipe.

This was a great substitution for the traditional glaze packet that comes with hams. I used sugar free maple syrup instead of the molasses.

I’m not a real fan of ham, but my hubs wanted one for Father’s Day. Who am I go argue with such a sweet man? My consolation was this wonderful glaze, which I used to drizzle over my ham slices. Ah-mazing. Let it be said that I now like ham!

This was sooooo good! I substituted sugar-free apricot preserves for the molasses, as suggested as a variation, and it was great. Definitely a recipe I would repeat. BTW, every recipe of yours that I have tried has become a keeper for us. Thank you for your creativity and good taste in food!
