The Best Low Carb Candied Nuts

There’s something so craveable about keto candied nuts with bacon. The sweetness of the caramelized nuts combined with the flavor of the salty bacon, are a match made in heaven.

How to Make Keto Candied Nuts

There are many different variations for making candied nut recipes. Some involve boiling water, sugar, and cinnamon together to make a syrup and then tossing the nuts in the syrup and then letting them harden. Other methods like this one involve using whipped egg whites and sugar to make a candy-like shell when roasted. This is my favorite method. I love the texture it creates. These low carb candied nuts make for the perfect snack, or even a sweet treat after dinner.

    Recipe Tips and Variations

    • Storage: Store leftover candied nuts in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
    • Spice it up: Use cayenne pepper, cinnamon, cumin, or any combination of the three in place of the paprika
    • Make a chocolate version: Add some unsweetened cocoa powder and a little more erythritol for a chocolate variation
    • Mix up the nuts: Use any combination of your favorite low carb nuts. Some of my favorites are almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, cashews, and pistachios.
    • Make keto trail mix: Toss in some sugar free chocolate chips and unsweetened coconut flakes to make a sweet and savory trail mix
    • Use them as a topping: These are delicious on top of a low carb salad, or crushed up and sprinkled on top of low carb ice cream.

    Description

These Keto Candied Nuts with Bacon are the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Great for a low carb snack on the go, or for when that raging sweet tooth hits.

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
    • 1 large egg white
    • ⅓ cup golden monkfruit (I use this brand) Code PEACE for 20% off
    • ½ cup almonds
    • ½ cup walnuts
    • ½ cup pecans
    • ½ cap cashews
    • ½ teaspoon paprika (I use this brand of spices) Code kyndraholley for 10% off
    • ¼ teaspoon sea salt (this is the only salt I use) Code PEACE for 15% off

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, using a hand mixer, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold in the sweetener.
    3. Add the nuts, paprika, and salt to the egg whites and mix until the nuts are all well coated and the paprika and salt are well mixed in.
    4. Spread the nuts in a single later across the prepared baking sheet. Roast the nuts for 35 to 45 minutes, tossing every 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the nuts from the oven, toss in the bacon, and allow it to cool and let the candy coating harden.

Looks wonderful and I'm anxious to try them. How long will these keep (especially with the bacon)?? Do they need to be refrigerated after they are made?
