Low Carb Dipping Sauces
Soft pretzels reminding me of walking into the mall as a teenager and passing the pretzel stand in the food court. It was like the aroma followed me all through the mall, calling to me. Well now I can have my low carb and gluten free soft pretzel and eat it too! I love to dip these in spicy brown mustard or cheese sauce. They are also really great dipped in my Three Cheese Garlic Marinara sauce or served with my Smoked Sausage and Cheese Soup

Keto Soft Pretzels
- Total Time: 29 minutes
- Yield: Makes 6 pretzels 1x
- Diet: Diabetic
Ingredients
- 2 cups blanched almond flour (I use this brand)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (I use this brand)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 3 large eggs, divided
- 3 cups shredded low moisture mozzarella cheese
- 5 tablespoons cream cheese
- Coarse sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined. I like to put the mixture through a flour sifter to ensure that all the baking powder gets mixed in with the rest of the ingredients.
- Crack one of the eggs into a small bowl and fork whisk. This will be the egg wash for the top of the pretzels. The other two eggs will go in the dough.
- In a large microwave safe mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese and cream cheese. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir to combine. Return to microwave for 1 additional minute. Mix until well combined.
- To the mixing bowl, add the remaining 2 eggs and the almond flour mixture. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated. If the dough gets too stringy and unworkable, simply put it back in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften and continue mixing.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long, thin piece, resembling a breadstick. Fold each one into the shape of a pretzel.
- Brush the top of each pretzel with the egg wash.
- Sprinkle coarse sea salt over top.
- Bake on the middle rack for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.

Love these. Love AL:L of your fathead dough recipes (ask my kids what they think about your cream cheese-filled bagel bites. They've even been requested for birthday breakfast!!)
Do you use this recipe to wrap hot dogs? (Forgive me, I haven't looked to see if you did!) I did tonight. Made 12 balls instead of 6, and used plastic wrap to form them around 12 hot dogs. Baked for about 10 minutes to set the dough, then "finish-fried" them in bacon grease (medium heat) for more of a "corn doggish" experience. So tasty!
Been low-carbing since 2012, and this has become one of my top 3 sites for finding awesome, reliable, no-fail, family-favorite recipes. Recipes that help us feel "normal" even!! I don't get the trolls I keep seeing pop up--your recipes are uniquely delicious and easy to follow (and you handle the trolls well). Keep these top-notch recipes coming! I'm definitely a fan!

I don't understand why you divide the eggs, Do you only put the whites in,
you don't really say

They are divided, not separated. Divided in a recipe means that all of them are not used at the same time. For this recipe, egg is used as an egg wash before baking and as an ingredient in the dough. Therefore, divided. If it was meant to separate the egg whites from the yolks, it would say separated.

Saved as a favorite, I really like your web site!

These are tasty but mine came out more like breadsticks than pretzels...I did not wrap them up like pretzels to save some time, but other than that, followed the recipe exactly...Any insights are appreciated.

Has anyone tried subbing the cream cheese with vegan cream cheese or something similar? My son can eat sheep/goat dairy but not cow dairy.

Wowza, really yummy. I think they are fantastic and will take other’s advice for different uses of this dough as well. My husband thought they were too doughy, but he is not doing keto and doesn’t understand how delicious these things really are! 🤣 In any event, next time I make them I’m going to make probably 8 or 10 pretzels instead of six, because I think that will help them be more crusty like he’s expecting when I say I’m going to make pretzels 🥨. Love all your recipes. So glad I found you.
