Lesson learned. Accept it, learn from it, get over it, move on.
Further proof that I am not the woman I once was. This has become my idea of Valentines “candy” How well does my husband know me? Some of my favorite Quest flavors were waiting for me when I got home from the gym.
Before I went to the gym today I just had a feeling that it was going to be one of those days where I walked into the gym, saw the board and wanted to run screaming. I was right. But I did not run, nor will I ever. Once I’m there, I’m there. The only way I would leave there before completing the wod would have to be on a stretcher. At any rate, my worst fears were confirmed. I was hoping for a wod that would not be too leg heavy as I have a race to run tomorrow. No such luck. 150 air squats later, I was ready to spend the day foam rolling so that my legs don’t feel like they are made of cement tomorrow.

After I caught my breath, it was time for my post session questions. I’m surprised they aren’t tired of me yet with all the questions I constantly have. I foam rolled before leaving and did so again at home a couple more times throughout the day.
Today I ran the “Knock My Socks Off” 5k. I am proud to announce that I got a new 5k PR. I was shooting for my first sub 30 5k time and while that didn’t happen, I was still very happy to shave 1 full minute off my best time. Normally before I run a race I check out the course map. I did not do that this time and much to my chagrin there was a huge hill in the middle of the race course. Hill Schmill… I still beat my previous best. Today I felt proud but exhausted. Today was also the beginning of the Whole Life Challenge . You can read about it – HERE. I joined through my gym but the challenge has participants all over the world. It has pretty strict guidelines but I am up for the challenge. I am so excited to see all the positive changes it brings about in my life.
Today I woke up with tight quads and calves and did some more foam rolling and stretching throughout the day. It was a nice relaxing end to the week.
I hate to have to admit it but I was up a few pounds this week. It was not unexpected as my nutrition was off. I’m not going to dwell on it but rather just continue to stay on track. I’m expecting great results after the first week of this challenge. Stay tuned!
